Proposal
Make adjustments to bounty hunter missions: increase the payouts for Investigation III marks (40k-70k per mission), but also slightly buff Investigation III marks. Increase payouts for extremely dangerous marks (75-90k per mission). In addition, I think that we should be able to grab multiple bounty missions instead of just 1 at a time.
Justification
Like I said in my justification, the bounty hunter profession was a lot more lucrative in pre-CU and in CU from what I remember. It is way too much work hunting NPC targets off world for the amount of credits that we get.

I really think that the payouts for Bounty Hunter missions need to be increased and I think the missions should be adjusted.

First, I would move extremely dangerous bounties to the Master BH skill box (if it hasn't been done already). Second, I think starting at Investigation III, the payouts need to be adjusted. Even for these marks, there is some work involved because you always have to go off the planet. In pre-CU, the payouts for these marks were 40k-70k per mission and while I fully acknowledge that this isn't pre-CU (or really CU for that matter), I don't see a lot of harm in buffing the payouts and I think these marks should be slightly buffed. For extremely dangerous bounties, there is even more work involved because you still have to go off-world, you still have to track your target, and it has been taking me 8-10 minutes to kill the bounty (as a full template BH, not including time to track). I think these payouts should be slightly adjusted to 75k-90kish per mission. I would also like to see the extremely dangerous bounties to not drop credits but to have that added to the mission total. I know the team did it this way as a quick fix but I would prefer it if it was just added to the mission total. Lastly, I would like to see the ability to carry multiple BH missions at the same time.

Overall, its a lot of work to hunt Investigation III and extremely dangerous marks, and the reward isn't quite worth it. I can run spin missions on Dantooine and earn 10x-20x more in one hour than I can earn in one hour of BH missions. It just doesn't seem right.

I made made some adjustments to my original posts and please be aware that I am just spitting out numbers here, this doesn't have to be exact. Ultimately, I believe that the BH missions need to be slightly buffed in regards to credit payout because the amount of work / time is required to complete them. I also think it would be a really cool idea to be able to pick up multiple BH missions at any given time instead of just one- think of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter if anyone has ever played that where you have multiple bounties at any given time.

The big justification for this is because there is a major disparity between making credits with ground missions and making credits in space. Space significantly pays more than regular terminal missions or BH missions but I would argue that BH missions take the most amount of time and work because you have to:

  1. Grab a BH mission from the terminal
  2. Go out of whatever city you are in and call a probe droid to track your bounty off world
  3. Travel to whatever planet your bounty is on (it is rarely the planet you are already on)
  4. Send out seeker droids to get the exact location of your target
  5. Then you have to travel to your target (while they are constantly moving) and I have seen targets that are over 6K away
  6. Then kill your target- with Investigation III marks this can be done fairly quickly, but with extremely dangerous marks, it can take 10 minutes or more
This also doesn't include your target making it to an NPC star port and going off world- all the time spent on one mission I can get 10x more credits by running spin missions.
 
I agree, how much does a master smuggler mission pay? 50k - 18k front = 32k
What is a top level BH mission?
Right now the top level is about 31k and if it is an extremely dangerous mark, you can loot 20k-40k worth of additional credits, but the time involved for killing this marks is a lot.

Well, it is right in line with smuggler then. Maybe both need increases. The grind to master underworld smuggler (to get Tier 5 missions) is brutal compared to BH investigation.

No adjustment for the mission payouts is needed because of all the great loot you get from doing them that you can sell BH missions are by far the most lucrative in the game

Both should be increased then. Both pale in comparison in regards to earning credits when compared to running spin group missions or by running space missions.
 
I definitely support the idea of letting bounty hunters know if their query is on/offline. I also support having someway to have our NPC bounties respawn if the are inaccessible, I’ve had far to many water and wall bounties recently. I think the answer to higher difficulty and rewards lies within bounty mission difficulty 4. Currently we get 1 point from novice, 1 point from investigations 3, and a point from master, if we add another point locked behind a bounty hunting badge something like 500 successful bounty 3 hunts and a lesser number of successful player hunts, I think a final level of super high pay out with an equally high challenge, like DWB difficulty, would be warranted.
