Proposal
My proposal is to make Doctor profession to use diagnose command to bring up a dialog like Entertainer.

The Dialog will give you the player an the following options:
* Wound Healing
* Buffs
* Protections
* Cybernetics
* Other things that the anyone could think of that a doctor could theoretically do ( Maybe bio-engineered enhancements).
Justification
The justification is simple. In order to solve the issue with Doctor as an AFK-macroing profession, you simply make it so the doctor cannot macro their buffs to other players.
Motivation
The motivation behind this is to stop players AFK-macroing Doctor buffs, which solves a few of the following:
* AFK Players (Server Contention mostly)
* Redirect the Doctor profession as more support class outside of the combat field.
* Allow Combat Medic to be the primary healer and/or debuff class.
Change Doctor buffing to a dialog (accept system) like Entertainer, so that it requires player interaction.

We've already been told AFK player to player benefits like this aren't an issue because they don't offer any system generated benefit (XP). So I'm not sure what the issue is with an AFK doc. You want it to be harder to get wounds healed and buffed? It's already difficult.

Also - you are proposing that one person at a time essentially can be buffed. So when a spin group comes around.. they have to find a doctor and stand in line to be buffed one at a time, instead of just getting the entire group buffed at once.

There is a BIG difference between Doc and Entertainer. Docs have 6 buffs that everyone wants..every time. An entertainer has to choose the buff their customer wants based on what their customer is about to go do....and it's different each time. You can't automate that (as of now).

A doc buff also lasts 30ish minutes compared to an ENTs 5.5 hrs, so now a doc needs to be around constantly to do a one by one buff?

Also - a doc is already geared as a out of combat support character and CM is clearly a better healer in combat. If you don't believe me take only a Doc specced char with no combat professions to fight some Dantari and see how it works out - ha.

Okay I kind of agree with that statement. To answer your question about do I want to make it harder, I feel like it won' t make it harder, once the population goes back to normal numbers which I predict will occur when 1.0 comes out. I believe you'll actually have players who will dedicate themselves to the profession because it can be a means of a revenue stream in game.

This is a good point, you could very well have the dialog have the ability do an entire group as well, since its not individually based, and then you could heal wounds for the entire group, and buff everyone at the same time, either way it would require the requestor to agree on what the doctor has put as options.

Again very good point, in this case you potentially extend the time on this, and that would make it more like an Ent buff, which I think is more advantages for a group of players, and so they don't have to keep going back to get doc buff every 30 minutes and or require to have one in group.

I agree with this statement too, Combat Medic is a better healer of course. ( I was a Master Combat Medic/Master Doctor) so I understand where you are coming from with that statement.

I just think that if adjust it like the following

Doctor
Poison Resist Buff
Fire Resists Buffs
Bleed Resist Buffer
Stats Buffs
There be some others I have not though off.
Longer duration buffs.

Combat Medic
Increase the percentage of upgrade on heals and other specials from the currently crafted items for Combat Medic.

I could agree with afk docs as long as they can not receive any benefits to doing it. For example no tips unless atk to approve them maybe with a captcha. If you wanna be that nice guy good but if you wanna afk for money and not do anything else then stay broke :)

I wish doc buffs were more like ent buffs. Longer, and you had to make decisions: do you get X or Y, because you can't get both.

Not sure I see a problem with the AFK DocBots if I'm honest, yes understand your comments in making them more like Ent's (in they have to be at the keyboard to make a selection. Maybe we look to meet in the middle, what about we like Docs craft enhancers to their buffs, but these enhancements can only be applied in person, not via a macro. This way you will end up with 2 types of doc players, they player wanting to support their guild and tank heal and offer a stronger buff, and the players that just want a buff bot

Not sure how practical the 2 tier buffs would be to get implemented, but perhaps crafting is an option? Used to like playing my Doc back in live, spending a friday night in coronet buffing people and chatting away, still enjoy it in R3, just not as many people to chat with , but feel current doc and their afk option is not broke and works as intended, but feel some form of crafting would be good to see.
