Community Thoughts on Ability to Transfer Pets Between Characters on the Same Account after Force Sensitive Unlock

Community Thoughts on Ability to Transfer Pets Between Characters on the Same Account after Force Sensitive Unlock
This idea/suggestion has been flagged as Not Implemented because of a lack of popularity, lack of interest, lack of feasibility, or other determination by the Development Team, so the suggestion will not be implemented. Once a suggestion has been flagged this way, the decision is final. Although the issue may be raised again in the future after a six month cooldown. Proposal
Allow characters to transfer pets between toons on the same account (removing abilities as those are learned by the CH themselves). You'd still have to relearn your abilities and whatnot.
Justification
CH pets would be useless after becoming Jedi/Sith as you would lose CH and can't transfer pets between toons on the same account.
Motivation
The recent release of the force sensitive path made me consider this issue as up until I read the notes, I thought your unlocked character slot would be the force sensitive one. It would be a shame for pets to forever be locked in your datapad after you start down the Jedi/Sith paths.
If you become a Jedi, you effectively lose all your pets on the character (since you can't exchange them between characters and would no longer be CH). Would the community like for it to be possible to make it to where pets could be transferred between characters on the same account upon unlocking Jedi (maybe even only a single time or based on the Jedi Knight requirement)? Maybe there could be another use for them? I'm interested in what the community thinks on this.

To me it seems like a sacrifice you get to make. Pursue Jedi, or stay CH and use your pets.

It should be treated no differently than any other character that chooses a different path. If you drop CH - you don't get to use your pets.

I get Jedi is cool - but I don't think exceptions/accommodations should be made because of a decision you're making willingly.

For even considering this, the loyalty of your pet should be reduced, because you claim to be BFFs with your pet, but you're quick to want to give it away. Shame Shame

That really seems like unnecessarily heavily penalizing players who have mained CH since the beginning. CH is very time consuming as I'm sure we're all aware (especially if you have mutated pets). To make all that work meaningless seems like a bit much. Why not some other solution, or at least a purpose for the pets after the unlock?

TLDR: No other class experiences this level of sacrifice.

No one is forcing you to be a Jedi.
True, but if you want to become one and your main is CH (meaning more time spent playing in this toon doing collections, badges, and content in general, etc) you're being heavily penalized for doing so. In order to be a jedi on one of your alts you essentially have to start over, something that no other class has to consider upon making this decision to my knowledge.

IMHO CH suffers a unique penalty if you leave the profession in that you cannot recoup any of the money you've put into your "tools of the trade"

no other class has this penalty PERIOD

change from a melee class - you can sell the old weapons,
go into a class that cant use the armor you have - you can sell it
Spend 1.5 - 30m credits on a pet ... your only option is to stuff the thing

back in live Training pets for other CH's was a business that helped to drive the economy
on resto that business doesn't exist
Back in live you could sell fully leveled pets
cant do that here

and as for BE'd pets realize the time to cook a pet was nerfed (nearly 48 hrs?) iirc

Personaly Ive felt this was a slap in the face of CH's since I joined this server but its only now coming up due to jedi, Im suprised it didnt come up before now

I think what's being suggested here is the least that could be done even if it is still a Nerf compared to live

so you are saying no other class suffers this loss? my carbineer/ranger/scout was/is using 8.5 million credit armor and a 500k carbine. he becomes a jedi and that is 9 million credits flushed down the drain. I have since switched this toon to ch/doc for ease of some things but the fact i use a 1.5 million credit weapon (pet) we now need to make an exception for CHs out there?
nobody is forcing any CH to use a 1.5 million credit pet or a 30 million credit pet. that was that CH choice in pet.

Sure I could give armor to my 4th toon if it becomes a jedi but honestly I feel this is the price you pay in becoming a jedi. Jedi are to have no attachments and do what is needed for the sake of being a jedi or sith. Also, perhaps armor in this game should be biolinked and not free and clear like it is now.

CH is special and I love my CH but I will sacrifice my pet in order to become a jedi. perhaps I am lucky I am chasing jedi on a toon with a regular 60 pt pet and not a fancy mutation. However I don't think devs should make an exception for any CH or class that becomes a jedi.

you can always sell the armor and make most of those credits back
or like you said - give it to another toon ....
this isnt an exception to the Rule - its an attempt to bring them closer in line with literally every other class in the game, CH's are already the exception to the rule
so ya .... no other class suffers that loss

and tbh I think this is an issue that goes beyond jedi , hell as I said I'm surprised it didn't come up before to be quite frank .... Jedi just happened to shine the spotlight on it

Your items can be transferred to your alt in almost every case. Hell you can even transfer your fortitude tokens between alts. This is simply not true with pets, which is exactly the point in trying to make.

CH's already lose all their pet ability (the grind to make them happen) if they incite and move their CH to a different character. No other class suffers that loss. Losing the pets too is a little much to ask of the class, to give them all up on top of the grind you now need to do to get all your pet abilities back. It's actually easier to try and incite on a different character so you don't lose it all. I guarantee you'd incite before you'd regrind getting all the pet abilities AND re-buying all your pets if you have nearly a billion credits worth like I do lol.

I am not advocating that the pet transfer happen, or that the ability transfer happens, or not. I'm just trying to complete the picture. Total loss is much more than just the pets. Added together it's about the same as grinding the xp needed to get jedi master in an extreme example like myself. I have over 40 pets and half of them are app mutations. I'm sure there are other players with more invested than me, maybe not lol.

It took me around 4 months to get where I am with pet abilities. I've been building my pet collection around a year.

I'd argue that regrinding a full set of max level pet abilities is more intense than rolling a BE and getting 20 mutations. I've done both. I incited on my CH. No way in hell am I giving up what I have for jedi. It's not even a remote possibility. I'll go force sensitive and be happy with that. I respecced my BE to a combat build. If I incite I incite. If I don't so be it. I'll hunt padawans ;-)

All that being said, expecting a game to change because of the choices you've made with your character will lead to disappointment. Doesn't hurt to ask, but set your expectations realistically.

I agree with this. I think it might be more interesting if the new character slot would be the force sensitive one, meaning you have to start from the ground up on Jedi/Sith character.

Edit: For now though I'd say being able to at least transfer pets (while losing training) between characters on the same account would be the bare minimum.

No. We've already answered this question before, we aren't supporting anything with transitioning things to other characters because of FS unlock. It doesn't matter what it is or what character it is on. The same will apply to future redeemables like veteran rewards.
