- Proposal
- Either an implementation with the future Jedi class that is based off supporting other players experiences, or at least a "promise" to the community that doing such things, will not hinder their "chase" for Jedi and maybe even make it easier.
- Justification
- Hopefully it would lead to those players who normally go out of their way to be nice and friendly to keep doing so, and not cause them any "issues" with missing out on their hard work. Or feeling like they helped others but ended up with nothing themselves.
I think a decent level of selflessness** is good for everyone, but it's understandable if you spend hours helping other players you might want something special for yourself. But it's a real shame if to get that something special you have to stop being nice. (Not saying everyone with Jedi in mind is acting this way, just something I noticed with a few quick friends I met** as I was leveling that, turned a bit sour once I got to lvl 80.)
- Motivation
- I'm a brand new player to SWG, and I think I found this server at a near perfect time, where there are enough people that I have talked to tons of people and made quick friends. But to see those quick friendships get dashed in the hopes of gaining a reward is a bit sad.
I've noticed that as we get close to what people tell me is going to be the Unlock of Jedi. Some players who normally often offer to help low levels or new players learn and run content. Will go off an only solo for things they think might help unlock Jedi. While understandable, it's a bit off putting and disheartening, to see a class that "mostly" represents the idea of the strong standing up for the weak and teaching and sharing their info, can cause players who normally go out of there way to share. Become "loot goblin" around trinkets. (Mind you I'm super new and this turn around on people is about two weeks, a few people that offered to help me level countless times, guild invites, and sat and talked with me for 30m+ into 2h+. Will now** tell me, they need 100% of X loot or I cant come, cause they are stressed over not getting "first Jedi")
Maybe this is just cause I never played live, and R3 is my only exposer to SWG, but the idea of Jedi *not only being unlockable this way* but being something, someone could unlock through helping others and having positive interactions helping grow the community sounds amazing, and could lead to a Jedi that's so loved by the community people choose to not attack them or hunt them, or even try to help them if they get attacked.
I'm really out of the loop on most things and kinda just play to have fun and experience the game so far. So maybe my line of thinking is a bit off. But it seems a bit sad that the "Jedi" could be a person to rally groups and support them, but the chase for it would cause such a change in people. Have the idea "known" by the players that going out of your way to share and help others "wont harm you" in your progress could be a benefit. The one thing I can think back to is a story I heard about Live Jedi, needing a full group of friends to help them beat one of the last Jedi bosses, and these people had to be people the Jedi could trust and inv to a group and work with, which could be cool as a Jedi who supported the community would then be held in a different light by all those helped "hopefully".
I get this could be insanely hard to implement or maybe not possible, I have no clue the limitations on SWG. Maybe I'm to emotional about a game, just my take on it.
TLDR ; I don't think anyone's journey for Jedi should be harmed by them helping others especially new players, and maybe at least for LS, benefit the Jedi from helping others.
