Proposal
Utilise the existing treasure map system to implement a GCW themed version of treasure maps.
Justification
Opportunity to use pre-existing in game functionality and items to introduce quick GCW themed content.
Motivation
Always been a fan of GCW content and think there is an opportunity to use existing code/loot to create quick and engaging Rebel/Imperial content.
Idea to utilise the treasure map system to implement a GCW themed version of treasure maps.

“Rebel High Command Encoded Message”
“Rebel Supply Drop”
“ISB Encrypted Data Disk”
“Imperial Military Troop Movements”

GCW TM’s could either be randomly looted as a single item from Rebel/Imperial NPC or as part of an encrypted set of data disks which need to be combined to create the map - a similar system existed during pre-cu where you would hand the combined set of disks over to a faction recruiter for a small amount of XP.

For ease of implementation, GCW TM’s would have the same dynamics as the current treasure maps i.e store waypoint, go to location x, activate.

If you wanted to add a bit of flavour to the process, perhaps a supply ship (storyteller) could take place which reveals the loot container and enemy NPC?

Possible loot:
25 x GCW tokens (small)
50 x GCW tokens (medium)
100 x GCW tokens (large)

X-Wing/Lambda instant travel vehicle (collections)

Tradable Schematics:
Rebel/Imperial Banner
Rebel/Imperial Food Rations
Rebel/Imperial Uniform Dye Kit (True White/Black/Olive Green)

Rare Loot:
Rebel: Wearable salvaged Black Scout Trooper Helmet - think Rogue One partisan.
Imperial: ?

I like the idea here a bit, but I would like to think that maybe something along the lines of coming from Imperial or Rebel mission terminals, and being labeled similar to high end bounties, with the "Extremely dangerous" tag or something. I would also lower the payouts immensely. I will upvote based on these types of changes to the idea.

To be honest, the payouts were just an example and I guess would be dependant on how rare the GCW TMs drop. Or in your example how often they appear on a terminal.

Based on the old pre-cu system, they were 1 of 4 parts which then combined into a single disk and while I don’t think any 1 specific part was harder to loot, they were definitely not common loot drops.

Would be a bit pointless if they sent you to the middle of nowhere though as I doubt you’d come across another SF player

If SF became a part of it the maps would have to be located in more populated locations such as the GCW city siege location … Bestine, Keren, Dearic.

Personally I probably wouldn’t chase someone to SE Talus where there’s no shuttles, for them to /pvp and move on after they’ve looted their treasure map. (But that’s just me).

A better system for that type of play would probably be say, a terminal positioned in each mini PvP area like the Weapons Depot. Player X can hack that terminal when it’s under control of the opposite faction (could re-use some of the Meatlump puzzles for this).

If player X successfully breaks the code/hacks the terminal It places a disk in their inventory, such as “stolen plans”.

While in possession of that disk Player X cannot return to combatant status and must deliver to a random NPC in a high population area that only appears after a certain period of time has passed.

Deliver the disk = success/reward goes to Player X
Die in PvP combat = failure/reward goes to Player Y
