Proposal
We think having Arakyd droids work to track down the planetary system, then using the seeker droids to give a more accurate location would make this helpful and less like finding a needle in a stack of needles. With these two droids already used, the changes could be made to include their use in your ships.
Justification
The justification is that with the addition of bounties in space, we are not seeing nearly enough engagement, and think a few small changes can make it more fun and still quite challenging to even the most seasoned bounty hunter.
Motivation
The motivation behind this is simple. The technology exists in the galaxy to track a target down to the meter, in some cases. We should be able to do the same thing in space. With a ship’s ability to move up to 15 x as fast a player can run, the idea of updated and accurate tracking is not as one sided as it seems, because in between tracking pings, you would still be able to cover over 1k, without trying.
Hello Restoration 3

After working with the esteemed Senators from PVP, HYBRID and GCW, we have come up with some ideas on how to improve bounty hunting in space.

Yes, yes, yes.
Please.
Trying to find the bounty target in space is fucking horrible.

What are the ideas? Or is it simply to make space tracking work like it does on the ground?

Absolutely, as ships travel so fast, closer to real time tracking would work. We can even add a radar type marker to light up when you are close.... You still have to be actively looking for them.

Not only do ships travel fast, but at any moment they can be initiating either hyperspace to leave the system and go to another one OR Homeport, which takes them immediately to their ground launch location.

A BH can't rely on them having to go to the space station to land.
Also, with Homeport, you can be in Tatooine Space, but use homeport and end up on Endor because that's where you originally launched.

Maybe even adding some sort of interdiction burst generator specific to bounty hunting, to prevent the target from hyper-spacing out of the system would be cool.
Now that is a kick ass idea!!! No, you won't slip away so easily.... a tracking munition, maybe?
So if you can snap it off, they cannot jump away or shake your tracking for an amount of time, perhaps?

Yeah, just brainstorming. I haven't hunted anyone in space, but I could see it being pretty frustrating when your target just homeports or jumps to a different system.

Space bounties show up even when the player is grounded, meaning that most missions are dropped because you don't want to sit around and wait for him to get back into space.

The effort takes for you to
1. get the mission.
2. get into space.
3. send a probe.
3. hyperspace to a system.
4. Be 10k out and hope he doesn't land

Is too complicated. Instead, I suggest that bounty hunters can open a terminal in space that shows active bounties in space only and maybe even show what system they are in.

If you improve the tracking mechanism, you might have a system that works. That way, the ground terminals won't be clucked up with missions.

as a matter of interest whats the time it takes currently to a/ select a misson + b/ go to an area out side a city to launch a probe to let you know where bounty is + get back to a starport so u can actually fly + d/ hyperspace to sector ..local of intended target compared to tracking on ground?

I totally dig this idea. I think it would work with the ideas already here, or on its own.
