Today we are announcing the release for our all-new Public Testing Program.

The Public Testing Program is a means for our development team to get a better heads up on special interactions that might occur once an update has been pushed to the Live servers. As is often the case with development, players find unique ways of breaking things that don't cross our minds when we do internal testing and we wind up spending a lot of time fixing new features and troubleshooting in the days following an update. The goal of the program is for our updates to be released a little bit more seamlessly through the use of extensive testing.

Testing Cycles:

A "testing cycle" is when we publish upcoming changes on Pillio with the intention of having them tested by the community before official release. Testing cycles will come with additional information and a checklist that details what needs to be tested. For example, a GCW Update testing cycle might entail testing a lot of new content which will be broken up into a checklist. The goal of having an individual checklist is to ensure broad coverage of all aspects of the upcoming content rather than focusing disproportionate effort in one area.

Testing Checklists:

Testing checklists will be posted and pinned in our Test Server channel in Discord. If you're not a member of the Discord, you should join it: discord.gg/swgr.

How it Works:

We have templatized a spreadsheet that will serve as a form for reporting on testing efforts for each testing cycle. A new spreadsheet will be used for each testing cycle and players will use it to report on their coverage of the testing checklist. Players should report on what they tested, even if they do not have feedback to provide, as "Working As Intended" is definitely information that we want to know as well.

Bug Bounties:

In addition to our testing cycles, there's an additional spreadsheet with a Bug Bounty list. These are high priority bugs that we need the community's help with getting solid reproduction steps for. Reports that directly lead to a fix for a bug on the list will receive rewards according to their severity. The Bug Bounty Board can be found here.

The Rewards:

Individuals' contributions to testing cycles will yield various rewards according to our Public Testing Rubric. The rubric has 5 tiers that will give varying amounts of Galactic Fortitude Tokens according to how much they tested and the quality of the provided feedback. Each testing cycle will have a range of potential fortitude token payouts that will scale in accordance to how much testing is needed. For a large update, payouts can range from 500-1000 tokens. For smaller updates, the range of payouts might be closer to 300-600.

We look forward to this testing process giving us a better heads up on bugs and potential improvements for upcoming content, as well as seeing players enjoy the fun new items that will come from the Fortitude Vendor.
