Adding some (hopefully) extra justification with some of my experience:
The main benefit for this, at least to me, would be for Scouting purposes. Being able to get mission in the same direction for a certain creature can take a long time, particularly if using an alt too.
A (painful) example is when trying to gather milk: depending on the planet, there are usually only a few creatures that you can milk and constantly refreshing to get missions in the same direction for the right creature can take many tries depending on luck, each cycle. Noting only 3-4 spawn (and not necessarily all female/milkable) when solo, and multiple characters can't milk the same animal (understandable but means grouping to go milking isnt really a thing), and you can only milk creatures once - ie milking is painful and it can take many cycles of missions to get a setup that you can get a decent amount farmed. Being able to at least select the mission direction would be great.
This of course applies to meat/hide/bone/eggs, and if searching for new resource spawns, too.
(If there is a way to stop the screen darkening as it loads the mission terminal refreshes that could really help my eyes as a fallback back!)
Overall, this seems like a decent QoL improvement that may be simple to implement (and doesn't seem to have any downsides).
