Novice Commando & Heavy Weapon EXP

Novice Commando & Heavy Weapon EXP
This idea/suggestion is Open. You can respond to ask questions or discuss the idea and either vote it up or down if you believe it should or should not be implemented, respectively. Popular suggestions and ideas will be considered by the development team to become reality in-game.
Proposal
I propose that either allow Rocket Pistols to be crafted as low as CL15 or Have the Novice Commando Trainer to Hand out a Starter Rocket Pistol when one trains into Novice and then another at CL18 so as to have one every 3 levels (Prefer the Crafting so you can get better stats, but either really needs to be implemented).
Justification
As it currently Stands, Novice Commando is the only Advanced Combat Profession that one can enter and then not be able to earn actual weapons exp in. This problem lasts for 6 Combat Levels, which means that the ONLY way to level up your CL to the point where you can actually start to train your HW Skills is to either level up another Advanced Combat Profession, or spend lots of Credits (Something newcomers might not have) on buying Grenades and do absolutely nothing but Chug them for Combat Exp (the slowest one to earn) just to reach a CL where they can actually use their Class Weapons and Skills (which still take some of the exp for Grenade exp, which is not used by any skill in the game.. but that is something for another day).
Motivation
To bring Commando in line with the other Combat Professions and allow Novice Commandos that enter the Profession at CL15 to actually be able to earn Heavy Weapon EXP and therefore continue to level Commando skills without having to train into another Advanced Profession First ,or spend a lot of credits and a very, very long time doing absolutely nothing but tossing Grenades for Combat EXP (which is not only not practical, it is again not something that any other Combat Profession has to endure).
It is a well known fact that you can enter Novice Commando at CL15 and it is also known that a Novice Commando has ZERO way to earn Heavy Weapon EXP until CL21 at the earliest (if a crafter somewhere has been kind enough to make a CL21 Rocket Pistol). As far as I know, there are no other combat professions where you can not use a weapon of your profession to advance in said Profession... I.E Carbineer and Carbines, Rifleman and Rifles, TKA and Hand to Hand Weapons, etc, etc. This forces a Novice Commando to take CLs in another Advanced Profession, which means working through the basic trees to get there... which once again is not something any other Combat Profession HAS to do.

Novice Commando is CL14 but I agree that something should be done about this. The trainer giving a Launcher Pistol definitely seems like the simplest solution although I don't think an additional one is needed before CL21 since going from CL14 -> CL21 is fairly quick anyway.

It is not difficult it is impossible.
I am CL14 and Commando and have no way to do Heavy Weapon Exp.

Logicbug

In the original game it worked somehow. didn't you get the launcher pistol as a novice?

It is nonsensical to learn any combat profession now just to become CL21cto get the gun from somewhere.
I didn't plan to do any other combat profession than Commando... that has enough different weapons...

Just not as Novice CL 14 and with that you will become Commando

Can pls cheat me a Dev a CL 14 Launcher Pistol. Char is Othoas. Thx

was just overlooked possibly forgotten. Can already happen ...

can you as a dev or senator possibly cheat things ? So that they scale? CL14 launcher pistol for 5k throw in the bazaar and all are happy ...

Edit :
I am now waiting for a solution... it makes no sense to continue the legacy quest now if I get unarmed exp that I don't need or just pick up a weapon to get exp that I don't need and learn skills that I don't want to...

After all, this is swg... no one HAS to become CL80... i can also do an entertainer commando if i feel like it...

The point of skill based MMOs is that you learn the skills and not necessarily have to learn another profession to go with it...

Small update as it is a commando player who just wants to be Commando....

First I tried to continue the Legacyquest... but that makes no sense, because I only get exp for unarmed or weapons that I don't want to learn...

I have first tried on Corellia to come into a spin group... Brings nothing because i dont get destroy missions on corellia with CL14.

Then I tried if it doesn't work better with Healing. No it does not. I just get too little damage and with CL14 it takes forever to get enough healing exp.

Then I bought a bot to be able to finish missions faster... Unfortunately also here CL14 is too low to get good scout exp....

I'm doing Destroy missions for hours now and collect infinite unarmed exp that I don't need to become BH which I might not even play....

The joke is only ... Am I then as a Novice BH actually CL21 or do I have to continue to learn things I do not want ?

The whole thing plays as if you want to make the car license, the new car is at home ... The theory test is passed and after the practical test the driving examiner tells you that you still won't get a driving license.
You first need the motorcycle license and then only have 1 year practice and then you get the car license.

I had just hoped there is a quick hotfix like a CL14 launcher gun in the Bazaar ( Wherever from ;) )or that a senator or Dev sends one by mail (or cxontact me on discord), so that I do not have to learn things that I actually do not want and possibly even do not need.

I hope this little update shows you that Commando is not that easy if you only want to play Commando for the first time.

Commando is not a class you can or should learn first. Only one you can learn if you already have a CL80 char and want to try new professions. Too bad actually :(

Edit : Thanks for the game anyway. Is a lot of work.... even if Commando is a bit difficult at the moment.
I'm not complaining. I just want to show how hard it is at the moment if you start with 0 and only want to play Commando and choose the other skills/"classes" later.

Edit 2 : ok now i am really pissed. I am novice BH now..
which I will possibly not play and am only CL 16... so continue to waste time to learn things that may not fit my playstyle, but what I only know when I have tried all the commando weapons through...

Yesterday I was still so " smart " and tried with c22 grenades to get only Combat Exp to skill grenades at the Commando... Unfortunately there is but with grenades Combat grenade exp (and pro rata Combat exp as always) which is to nothing to use and I have thrown money out for nothing...

As the Commando is now, it is only playable as a second class. Not as first class... It simply lacks a CL 14 Launcher Pistol

You just need to combat XP for novice Commando, then you level up your grenade trees and then you level up your heavy weapons.

You are correct, there is no way to lvl Heavy Weapons when you unlock Commando at Cl14. I had to lvl a secondary class until I got CL21, then equip the Launcher Pistol and hand in quests - it's extremely painful to say the least, and a very weird oversight.

Also tried and failed at the Grenade thing, wtf is "Combat Grenade" exp - it literally does nothing, there is no class that uses this exp.

The solution is, as you say, to allow a CL14 Launcher pistol in the game.
