Prevent SF Token payout to players who are not Overt/PVP flagged at the time of capital ship destruction and within 4k m of the space battle.
This idea/suggestion is Open. You can respond to ask questions or discuss the idea and either vote it up or down if you believe it should or should not be implemented, respectively. Popular suggestions and ideas will be considered by the development team to become reality in-game.
Proposal
I propose that overt token/GCW payout is not available to players who are not overt at the time of the capital ship destruction (or within a few seconds) and within 4k m of the space battle.
Justification
Overt token payouts are double normal payouts due to the risk of being attacked by other players during the space battle. Overt space battle should generate more player vs player encounters. But often times, people just tag the capital ship, then go hide in the corner of the zone afk. AFK players can still receive full overt token/gcw payout after being destroyed and sitting on leave/afk anywhere in the zone.
Motivation
PVP space battles would hopefully see more intended PVP encounters. It would require the separate factions to actually engage one and other on a regular basis in space. I think this would make overt space battles the space flashpoint they were meant to be.

Even if they are found and destroyed, as long as they remain in the system, they can still collect full gcw/token payout. Or, once they are destroyed, they can come back on leave and just continue to kill the capital ship/fighters with zero threat of PVP, while still collecting full overt gcw/token payout. I think this defeats the purpose of the PVP space battles. If people want to farm easy gcw and tokens without pvp threat, they can stick to the PVE space battles.

Lot of incorrect info in here. Nobody going to space battles is tagging it and then afking flagged in the zone. You can't come back to the battle and kill fighters or components with zero risk of PvP, as both flag you overt.

All this would do is grief the players who died right at the end of the battle so they get nothing. Also, what space battles are you at? There has been active PvP at every PvP space battle for weeks.

So, someone goes into space, flags up to fights the space battle, and get killed. You get 250 zone control points for the kill, but that's not good enough. You want to force them to keep coming back to the fight 2, 3, 4 more times so you can get another 10 points for each kill? Are you trying to kill space PvP? Hris is going to have a hernia when he sees this.
 
No hernia here.

The current auto flag mechanic is a troll prevention tool. It’s not the desired setup. The preferred behavior is the conventional flag up. The mechanic is buggy, but better than what it would be without it. More complete solutions are being worked out.

I don’t favor this because it would deprive rewards from players that died near the end of the battle.

I’m would be in favor of mechanic that would require that you have been in the battle zone flagged within the last 5-10 min though. This would also tie into another feature we’re working on.

The updated flagging mechanic on attack largely, but not completely, negates this issue. The ideal solution is that you can’t do any damage to the battle NPCs until you are flagged.

Absolutely incorrect. Players are indeed tagging the ships and then sitting afk in the zone. Even after tagging the ship and getting killed in pvp you can still collect full payment while on leave status. I have killed a number of afk leechers this week.

Oh I get it, you want your full reward for minimal effort. Makes sense. Why would you not want a contested battle where you have to fight the duration to gain the win. This will kill "pvp" for the guys who just come and tag it once then go hide in the system somewhere.

I'm glad you've already given up on the stated motivation for this PV. You've admitted this won't add any PvP but rather kill it for some.
