- Proposal
- Respectfully propose that the food and drink bars reset to being empty upon death.
- Justification
- Death in the game results in many realistic Star Wars consequences -- such as cloning (receiving a new body), having old equipment on your dead toon being degraded due to trauma from a violent death, and losing almost all buffs. However, not all the consequences of death and receiving a cloned body should be negative. A new body brings a fresh life, which means no consumed food and drink. Moreover, in heroics, pvp, and other group content, "death is a natural part of life" as Yoda says. Numerous deaths in these events require eating and drinking again when the food and drink bars are already nearly full from a player's prior live -- leading to premature filling, which ruins group content experiences. To illustrate, some pvp may have to be cut short because a pvp team has won numerous times without dying, and the opposing team has to surrender due to having less buffs. Part of the reason that group has less buffs is due to the group members' food and drink bars still being full. This hypothetical similarly applies to a difficult pve event or nightmare heroic -- the group has to abandon the event because they do not have enough buffs to proceed. This change fixes those problems and promotes more challenging pvp in an already unbalanced pvp environment where the faction with more numbers wins. The change also promotes more meaningful pve while maintaining the pve's default challenge level. Those opposed may argue that the group can simply wait until their food and drink bars go down and try the pvp content or pvp again later. However, this method unreasonably slows down the pace of gameplay (a lot of the group content already takes hours to complete -- heroics, for example), some pvp content is time sensitive (e.g., busting a base or taking a tower), and all heroics have time limits. So that solution is insufficient.
- Motivation
- To ensure consistency with the other consequences of death, promote more challenging pvp (especially for a pvp team that is outnumbered and dies more often), ensures efficient gameplay, and to promote quality of life in general.
