- Proposal
- Add /suicide command to the game to allow a person to send themselves to the cloner, with a 5 minute countdown. Using an item or an action during this time cancels the countdown. 24 hour cool down after use. Cannot be activated when TEF'd, in combat or special forces.
- Justification
- Getting stuck happens. Sometimes /unstick doesn't cut it. Tickets here have a reputation for taking a very long time for resolution.
This would take some load off the R3 staff as it would reduce the amount of tickets submitted. It would also help retain the existing player base as less folks would be likely to quit after months of waiting for a ticket response. A 5 minute countdown with action/item restriction would ensure this would be difficult to abuse to avoid things like death to a bounty hunter or as a means of exploitable fast travel. 24 hour cool down and usage restriction measures seem to be another reasonable measure to avoid unintended abuse.
- Motivation
- As a means to self-service in the event that one finds themselves very stuck without a means to remedy the situation.
About a week ago, I interacted with a guy on discord who had been waiting months for a ticket response for his character who is stuck outside the planetary map. I can't image many people in that circumstance would continue playing R3. This is an old and buggy game. These days it makes sense to gives the players more means to fix their own problems in a non-exploitable way.
Ultimately, the motivation here is to keep people playing and enjoying R3. Community makes or breaks an MMO.
I've seen a number of players in R3 discord inquire about how long it will take for a response on a ticket. A few of them are just very stuck. One person was stuck in space outside a spaceship (on foot), another was stuck off the map. A /suicide command to send one's self to the cloner would have resolved both of these issues without staff intervention.
