Add more utility to creature mounts

Add more utility to creature mounts
This idea/suggestion has been flagged as Feedback Needed by the development team. See the post from the developers asking for follow-up discussion or alternative suggestions to discuss.
Proposal
Proposing some changes to boost the effectiveness of mounts. Creature Handlers will get a boost to mount speed / endurance at Novice, Creature Training IV, and Master and make mounts act like vehicles (don't disappear when you dismount). . Lastly, there should be tiers of mounts based on speed and creatures should be divided in these groups- the fastest creatures would be in tier III while the slowest creatures would be in tier I.
Justification
To make mounts more effective so they can be used just as often as vehicles. This will also give them more utility.
Motivation
Mounts, while cool, don't really serve any function and they are not practical means of travel.
Creature mounts have always been a cool concept in Star Wars Galaxies, but I think with a few tweaks, they could be made even better. They do not really work as an alternative to a speeder or swoop because they simply do not move fast enough- I think that should be changed with a few boosts.

At Novice Creature Handler, gaining a 25% boost to mount speed and gallop endurance. At Creature Training IV, gaining an addition 25% boost to mount speed and gallop endurance. At Master Creature Handler, gaining an additional 30% boost to mount speed and gallop endurance for a total of 80%.

Lastly, make mounts be in a tiered ranking system by speed (tier I, II and III) with the fastest creatures being in tier III and the slowest creatures being in tier I.

I rely on my mounts as a cost-free per-use form of travel between shorter distances. Which, fortunately for me, is often. What I would like to see is mounted combat. I have a memory of that being a thing during the Live years...but I could just be fancying that idea.

Mounts could do with some attention. Making them a vehicle alternative is not it. Its about picking their function in game and making them better at that narrow brief than a vehicle - which is in turn better in its specific role.

We are interested in hearing more ideas on this one.
Well, I think giving CHs more moveset speed while on a creature mount is a given- but perhaps a Master CH will be able to train mounts as well (with boosted speeds) and sell them to non-CHs? Maybe they won't be as fast as a Master CH mount, but still fast?

I like the idea of making mounts faster but maybe just a bit slower than a speeder. Someone mentioned that they should require food which makes sense to me. Maybe create a quest line that you must complete to gain a permanent speed boost like completing a race on several planets.

You need mounts for Kashyyyk . Would i like to see more mount only areas sure. If we are going to be able to modify mount speed what about having Smugglers slice speeders? Speeders are a credit sink, mounts are not. Would people like to have the mount die in combat? That would change what people will ride into pvp. Why not make mounts degrade over time because they get old? The older the mount the slower it gets. Just flipping the other side of the coin here.

If food for mounts were a thing, I'd like to see it as an NPC (Junk dealer?) item, just so it could become a credit sink. I'm not a fan of non player crafter in general, but we need sinks.

Combat death would be a lot, maybe some kind of wounds causing performance degradation? Off topic - but I'd like to see mounts decide to wildly gallop in random directions rather than "slow down and prepare for combat" when they don't engage in combat.

I think it should just be a given for CHs. Especially if we are talking about lore because in Clone Wars and in the prequel trilogy, mounts moved just as fast if not faster than vehicles.

Some mounts moved fast sure, others are extremely slow... "Like a Bantha" (couldn't help myself).
The two legged mounts should be quick and agile.
4 legged meat eaters should be fast.
Big plant eaters should be slow, but tough.
You get the idea.
They should all have limited sprint abilities, they are animals not machines.

That's why I suggested that there are tiers in regards to mounts.

I wouldn’t ever want combat possible on any mount and also don’t think an animal mount should be as fast as a swoop or barc. CH perhaps should be able to be faster on an animal as that would reflect their class.
I use my varactyl for short in between runs and I don’t think it’s that slow.
If they are to be faster then I feel there must be some sort of credit sink for that increased speed. Otherwise it seems like a work around for having to pay for using a mount.

CH being faster on mounts (y)
Mounts being as fast as swoops (n)
CH being able to train and sell trained mounts that are faster. (y)

If a credit sink of some kind is required than why not just make mounts that have increased speed require constant feeding just like combat pets. A full meter (similar to our food/drink bar) that when filled gives you the full benefit of your speed increase and when empty is the same speed as a default mount.
