Allow rescaling/font size adjustment for UI fonts

Allow rescaling/font size adjustment for UI fonts
This idea/suggestion has been flagged as Implemented so it has (or will be) implemented into the game in some capacity. More information can be found in the post from the development team.

Proposal
As most of you already know, you can already scale the font size for the chat window, hover text, chat bubbles, and player/NPC names, etc., but what I'm asking is allow scaling for all the other UI font sizes, like the quest tracker, tool tip fonts, and so on.
Justification
Almost all other text in the game can be scaled already. I've seen other servers and mods that allow for this. Shouldn't be terribly difficult to implement (I hope)!
Motivation
Most of the UI fonts are far too small for me to read without squinting and getting eye-strain over hours long play sessions, and it also makes it much more difficult for me to stream the game because I constantly have to stop what I'm saying and lean in to read the super small text.

Even if it's not an in-game option, even a downloadable separate file, I'd greatly appreciate it!

you know... I think i saw somewhere in discord that someone said there was also a texture pack update or something along with the ui improvements?

I know this has been looked at before and its not a simple request - and that there are many other higher priority things out there. But as we have much higher resolutions than we did in 2003, and my eyes aren't what they were then either, I support this!!

A suggestion till this does become a thing. Even if you're on a 4k monitor like I am. Change your desktop resolution to 1920x1080 and use that resolution for SWG. Make's it really easy to see everything and nothing should be terribly small.

I play on a 1366 by 768 and I can change it to double that, however; the UI is either too small or too big. A slider scale that allows for UI resizing universally or individually would be awesome.

I was able to find and have been using some UI files that to change the text and some small amount of UI around the text including the tooltips, making it much easier to read at 1440p. Though using the largest versions breaks the font. If anyone needs I'd be happy to link to them, or post them somewhere that is okay to attach files. ( SWG Larger Font - Alternative, Mod name in case you've already seen it. )

Though I would love a in-game version of this that scaled all the HUD, not just text as well. But this helps make things easier to read for the moment.

So this will change the ui size? I have the chat font adjusted but the UI is killing me. Hard on us old men

It doesn't really change the UI, but it does rescale the text game wide including in the tooltips when you hover over things and rescales the tooltip window. But nothing else in the UI gets scaled for things like your HP bar or toolbar sadly. It would be kinda like changing your chat font, but the font for all the text used in the game. I can still adjust my chat font size too.

Found this little note in the Knowledge Base:

The in-game User Interface is very small and hard to read

Computers running Windows 10 or 11 with high-resolution monitors may run into limitations with how the User Interface can be properly scaled. We're working on a fix for this, but in the meantime, you may need to disable high DPI features. You can do this following the steps below:
  1. Open the folder where you installed Restoration III (if you did not change the installation folder when installing, the default location is C:\Restoration III).
  2. Find the file called "SwgClient_r.exe" and right-click, then select "Properties"
  3. On the "Compatibility" tab, click the "Change high DPI settings" button.
  4. Check the "Use this setting to fix scaling problems for this program instead of the one in Settings" box. Under the "Use the DPI that's set for my main display when" dropdown, select "I signed in to Windows".
  5. Check the "Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by:" and in the dropdown select "System".
  6. Click OK to close the DPI settings window and OK again to close the Properties window.
  7. Restart the game from the launcher.

The mentioned fix makes the login screen and the game move outside of my screen not really sure why I tried both full screen and borderless. The interface and font being so small makes it impossible to play with a 4k monitor.

I have the same issue, any fix ?

Oh this would be fantastic. I switched my main screen down to 1440p just to play Resto and would love to be able to go back to my native 4K resolution, I loathe switching all of the time as is often borks window placements. Wife says I'm fussy or something, dunno what she's on about really, they only have to be to-the-pixel accurate pfft.

This was the first main issue I had when I started playing. Depending on the color of the text, the small fonts where either legible or looked like jagged blocks of color. Red is the worst offender. I wanted to use the highest resolution possible (and still do), but instead, I had to settle for less (and still must).

Perhaps the problem is how anti-aliasing is handled with certain colors (see link below). User-scalable, as DandyGuy suggests, would also be a smart move, and would make the game more accessible to those with disabilities. BOTH problems should be addressed. In that this problem effects all aspects of game play, it should be a high priority item.
